Beauty Sleep 101

Ever wonder why they call it “beauty sleep” when most people wake up feeling far from beautiful? Me too.

Turns out, it’s not about waking up looking beautiful (we can still dream though!) It’s about what you can do to go to bed and wake up feeling and looking great.

And how exactly are we supposed to do that? Aren’t we supposed to be sleeping when we go to bed?

Well, yeah.

And many people will tell you about different routines they have come up with to maximize their beauty sleep, complete with different creams, moisturizers, etc., etc., etc.

But I have a simpler, more luxurious solution to increasing the results of your beauty sleep.

The answer…is silk.

Silk does wonders for the hair and the skin, so naturally, sleeping on silk pillowcases and sheets, or even napping in your favorite silk PJs will help with your beauty sleep (not to mention, you’ll look and feel absolutely fabulous in such a rich fabric!)

You may be wondering how silk can do all this, right?

Well, silk is a natural protein fiber and contains the same amino acids that are used in many moisturizers and hair care products. That’s probably why so many dermatologists recommend silk pillowcases for the prevention of wrinkles, dry skin, dry/frizzy hair, and morning bed head. (I love my silk pillowcase mainly because it keeps all my curls looking full and springy!)

Silk is also hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and temperature-regulating. Silk will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. These properties make silk sleepwear and bedding the perfect aid to a good night’s sleep. And we all know the better rested you are, the better you look! (No dark eye circles – Yay!!)

I don’t know about you, but I’m never using anything but silk pillowcases ever again!
