TexereSilk is a business unit within New England Mercantile Group, LLC (NEMG), a Connecticut-based global sourcing company with offices in Asia. As a product & procurement sourcing coordinator, NEMG functions in a wide range of industrial sectors, from design and architecture to institutional and home textiles.
Our sister companies, affiliates, and other suppliers have the requisite certifications for the ISO 9000 family of (quality) standards, the ISO 14000 family of (environmental) standards, the Öko-Tex 100 family of (human and production ecology) standards, and the SA 8000 family of (labor) standards.
TexereSilk offers elegant and artistic clothes to our retail customers – thus directly engaging the end user in the U.S. and Canadian markets in appreciating and enjoying the art forms being practiced around the world.
We are proud of our philosophy and practice as a socially responsible and ethical sourcing company. As an integral part of our work, NEMG promotes rare and endangered art forms from around the world.
NEMG works with companies large and small in countries such as China, Pakistan, and India. Some of them are very small enterprises – no more than a few artists. The various skills practiced by these artists are often region specific. Unfortunately, as the interest of the native populations in their own heritage is dwindling, many of these art forms are rapidly disappearing from the horizon. Consumer interest, nurtured by firms like NEMG, can have an impact in sustaining the economic viability of endangered cultural heritages around the world.
NEMG plans to soon extend its supplier network to Central and South American countries.
